Hi! My name is Fabian Richter and I am from Dresden.

As the Abitur came closer, I asked myself, as so many do, what I would like to do after school. From the very beginning, it was important to me that I enjoyed my work. I have always had a thirst for knowledge, liked trying out new things, and could really lose myself in interesting things. Creativity and logical thinking suit me, but a practical application was also important to me. So I decided to study for a bachelor’s degree in media informatics.

Many of my fellow students had advertising and web agencies as practice partners or companies that are otherwise active in the creative industry. Even though SYSTEMA is not such a company, I was able to unfold in the marketing team. In this small team, I learned how to design infographics, logos, and flyers. I was allowed to edit photos and videos. So I gained experience in web development. Even though I wasn’t much help at the beginning, my supervisor was always patient. I wrote my bachelor thesis in 2018. But since I still did not have enough knowledge, I directly registered for the master’s program in applied computer science with a focus on media informatics at HTW Dresden (Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Dresden). SYSTEMA supported me with a working student job with a salary on an hourly basis. Depending on my workload during my studies, I was able to flexibly arrange my working hours, which took a lot of pressure off me. At the same time, I took on the development of the website as my area of responsibility.

Throughout my studies, I was able to take on exciting tasks. In my team, I was always listened to and perceived as a fully-fledged colleague, even though I was often only able to work 10 hours a week.

Since graduating with my Master’s degree in 2021, I have been working as a web developer in the marketing team. Thereby I not only take over the development and design of the website but also support the marketing team in all digital topics – whether it be the automation of CRM tasks or the development of small CLI or UI applications to facilitate the daily work. Every now and then I also take over the design of digital media, especially in the field of (3D-) animation. However, learning didn’t stop with my degree and so I continue to develop every day.

Why SYSTEMA?
Well, I would rather say “why not SYSTEMA?” After graduating from high school, I had no professional experience. SYSTEMA gave me a chance and I took it. With today’s perspective, it has proven to be the ideal career entry for me.
At SYSTEMA, I particularly like the team atmosphere. We are not just colleagues, but friends, where fun is not neglected either. When it comes down to it, we stick together and stand united behind our work. I also find the international exchange within the company exciting. It’s easy to have lunch with colleagues and cuisine from Tunisia, Egypt, Costa Rica, or Brazil.

And who knows…maybe you’ll be sitting at this table next time, too!
